Parents
What is stepintoai.net?
stepintoai.net provides one to one online tutoring for GCSE and A Level students. We focus on confidence, clear teaching, and exam technique that turns ability into marks.
Who will be teaching my child?
Your child will be taught by a carefully selected tutor with strong subject knowledge, a calm teaching style, and a track record of helping students improve. We prioritise tutors who understand UK exam boards and how marking actually works.
Are tutors DBS checked?
Yes. Tutors who work with children are required to have an appropriate DBS check. We will confirm DBS status before ongoing lessons. For safeguarding reasons, we also encourage a parent to be present at the start of the first session or trial.
How do you vet tutors?
We review subject competence, teaching approach, and suitability for online tutoring. Where relevant we check documentation such as identity, qualifications, and DBS status. We also look for tutors who can explain clearly, not just “know the answer”.
Can anyone become a tutor?
No. We only onboard tutors who meet our standards for teaching ability, professionalism, and safeguarding. If someone is academically strong but cannot teach clearly, we do not proceed.
How do you match my child with the right tutor?
We match based on subject, exam board, current level, target grade, availability, and learning style. If the match is not right after the trial or first few sessions, we will help you switch to a better fit.
Do you offer a free introduction session?
Yes. We offer a free 15 minute trial session so you can meet the tutor, discuss goals, and confirm expectations before booking paid lessons.
How are lessons delivered?
Lessons are delivered online, typically via Zoom or Google Meet, with screen share and a digital whiteboard where needed. Your child can learn from home with no travel time, and sessions can be more consistent week to week.
What happens in a typical lesson?
- Quick check of what your child understands and what is missing
- Clear teaching with examples
- Exam style questions or past paper practice
- Mark focused feedback and corrections
- A simple task to complete before the next session
Will you set homework and track progress?
Yes. Tutors can set small, focused tasks between sessions and track progress over time. If you want regular parent updates, tell us and we will agree what “good reporting” looks like for you.
Can you help with exam technique and past papers?
Yes. Exam technique is a core part of our tutoring. We use past papers, mark schemes, timing strategies, and examiner language so your child learns how to earn marks, not just understand topics.
What if my child is anxious, lacks confidence, or struggles with focus?
Many students come to tutoring feeling behind or stressed. We keep sessions structured and calm and focus on small wins that build confidence. We are not a medical service, but we can adapt teaching style and pace to help your child stay engaged.
What are the prices?
Pricing depends on subject, level, and session packages. You can view current pricing on our website or contact us and we will recommend the best option based on your child’s goals and timeline.
How do I pay?
At the moment, payments are taken by direct bank transfer. Stripe card payments are being added soon, which will allow you to pay by most major debit and credit cards. If you need an invoice or payment reference, we can provide it.
Do I have to pay upfront for a full package?
No. Many parents start with a small number of sessions and then move onto a package once the plan is working. If you do choose a larger package, it usually works out better value and keeps consistency.
Can I reschedule a session?
Yes. Please request changes at least 24 hours before the session start time. Rescheduling depends on tutor availability. Late changes may be treated as a cancellation because tutors reserve the time for your child.
What is your cancellation and missed session policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or move a session. Missed sessions or late cancellations may be counted as used, because the tutor has held the slot. If there is a genuine emergency, contact us as soon as possible and we will be fair.
Can I speak to the tutor between sessions?
Yes. We can communicate through agreed channels for lesson related questions. Many families also prefer a simple WhatsApp group for scheduling and quick updates. We keep communication professional, polite, and focused on learning.
What if we are not happy with the tutor?
If something is not working, tell us quickly. We can adjust the approach or match your child with a different tutor. The goal is progress, not awkwardness.
How quickly will we see improvement?
It depends on your child’s starting point, consistency, and the exam timeline. Many students feel more confident after 2 to 3 sessions. Grade improvements usually follow after steady practice and past paper work.
What does my child need for online tutoring?
- Laptop or tablet, stable internet
- Quiet space and headphones if possible
- Pen and paper
- Exam board details if you have them
Do you tutor younger children?
We mainly focus on GCSE and A Level. If your child is younger, contact us and we will advise honestly whether online tutoring is suitable and whether we can help.
How do we get started?
Start by booking a free 15 minute trial. We will discuss your child’s current level, target grade, exam board, and the quickest route to improvement. Then you can book sessions with confidence.
